America is in serious crisis unlike anything we have ever faced. What makes this situation so much worse than anything that has gone before is that we are on the brink of losing our sovereignty. Thomas Jefferson our 3rd President and one of my favorite Founding Fathers said this about banks,

“

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

“

Our political leaders have failed to take Jefferson seriously. In fact, they have done just the opposite.

To further exacerbate the problem, the end of W.W. II gave birth to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the World Bank and the World Trade Organization (WTO) and now all of the economies of the world are tied together and interdependent on one another. The chickens have finally come home to roost and today we see the collapse of the European Union. Everyday brings more and more bad news from Europe all of which has a direct and devastating effect on America. To make an already explosive situation even worse, we have learned during the month of December 2011 that between December 2007 and June 2010 the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of the world’s banks, corporations and governments by giving them 16 Trillion U.S. dollars!

So here we are at the end of 2011 over 15 Trillion dollars in debt, (and that doesn’t included our unfunded liabilities such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid which are estimated to be over 100 trillion dollars in debt)! Everyday more and more Americans are losing their homes, their jobs, and their savings and they are losing hope and many are becoming desperate and crime is rising.

As bad as all of that is, what is really scary is that we are beginning to lose our God given rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights. After 9/11 the U.S. Congress passed the so-called “Patriot Act” which in effect gutted the 4th Amendment by giving the government the right to search every U.S. citizen without probable cause. Last week the U.S. Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act (S.1867). which would give the U.S. military law enforcement ability and allow them to indefinitely detain and interrogate U.S. citizens as long as they label them terrorist or enemy combatants.

So much for innocent until proven guilty. So much for limited government.So much for due process. The National Defense Authorization Act essentially strips the due process clause out of the 5th Amendment. Americans either out of fear or ignorance are giving up their Constitutional Rights. It reminds me of another Founding Father’s

“

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

“

(Benjamin Franklin).

Finally to tie this all together and to answer the question why do I want to be Marion County’s next Sheriff let me conclude with one last quote by Thomas Jefferson.

“

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”
